First Tee of East Baton Rouge Parish Triumphs Over First Tee of Greater New Orleans in Ryder Cup Style Tournament.

First Tee of Greater New Orleans hosted a Ryder Cup competition with First Tee of East Baton Rouge Parish on Monday, December 21st & Tuesday, December 22nd. During the two days of intense competition at the South Course of Bayou Oaks at City Park, First Tee of East Baton Rouge participated in a variety of match-play formats including alternate shot, scramble, and one-on-one competition. All eyes were on the final group on Tuesday, as their competitive play decided whether Baton Rouge would walk away with the trophy or participate in a putting playoff against New Orleans. After sinking a nail-biting 6 foot putt to win the hole, the New Orleans team successfully forced Baton Rouge into a putting playoff. In an effort to break the tie and decide the outright winner of the competition, each team sent out a single participant at a time to put their best stroke on a 6 foot putt. Team Baton Rouge took an astounding early lead with their first few participants securing three consecutive 6-footers, placing the pressure on the New Orleans team to respond and narrow that gap. Despite a valiant effort by the New Orleans team, Baton Rouge held their lead until the very end of the competition, taking the Gumbo Cup back home to Baton Rouge as the victors. Congratulations to the participants from First Tee of East Baton Rouge Parish:
